Clarification On The Issue of The Release of Professor Sean Turnell in Myanmar

PHNOM PENH: The spokesperson of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has issued a clarification statement regarding the announcement of the release of the Australian national, Professor Sean Turnell who was detained in Myanmar. The information announcing the release of Turnell is false and the professor still remains in detention.

Despite the erroneous statement, the spokesperson from the Ministry of foreign affairs has recalled that Prime Minister Hun Sen has raised the issue of Professor Sean Turnell’s release during his talks with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and that the Myanmar’s military junta’s leader gave an assurance to Cambodia’s premier that he would reconsider the case once the court process is over.
